1969. godina ostala je zapisana u istorijiskim knjigama po mnogo čemu kao prelomna.
U muzici, ta je godina iznjedrila veliki broj zanimljivih, a kasnije se ispostavilo kultnih izdanja. Među njima tu je i treći album Velvet Underground, tj prvi bez multiinstrumentaliste i kretivca John Calea. The Velvet Underground obilježiće 45. godišnjicu njihovog istoimenog albuma posebnim reizdanjem. Ovaj box set od šest diskova trebao bi izaći krajem novembra i imaće 65 pjesama.
