Nakon nekoliko sedmica nagađanja, Iron Maiden je konačno objavio novu muziku. Radi se o skoro osam minuta dugoj pjesmi “The Writing on the Wall” koja je ispraćena animiranim spotom. Video je urađern u saradnji sa dva velika fana benda, koji su ujedno i dugogodišnji zaposlenici studija Pixar. Dvojac je angažovao londonski studio BlinkInk koji je iznjedrio ovaj postapokaliptični video u kome se naravno pojavljuje Eddie.
Što se tiče pjesme nju su zajednički napisali Adrian Smith i Bruce Dickinson, producirao je Kevin Shirley, a mjesto koproducenta zauzeo je naravno Steve Harris. Za sada nema definitivnih najava albuma, ali za očekivati je neka takva akcija od ovih veterana. posljednju muziku objavili su 2015. godine. Bio je to album “Book of Souls”.
